The Illinois Department of Transportation says work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 2nd, on improvements along Illinois Route 49 through Edgar County.
The project involves resurfacing the travel lanes and shoulders, and will require intermittent lane and shoulder closures. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to allow extra time for trips through that area. IDOT suggests motorists use an alternate route. Drivers are urged to pay close attention for changed conditions and signs in the work zone, obey posted speed limits, and refrain from using mobile devices in order to be alert for workers and equipment.
The work is expected to be completed in late November.
