In addition to the Danville Symphony Orchestra Christmas concert at the Fischer Theatre this Sunday at 3 PM, let’s not forget that there’s another holiday concert at the Fischer on Saturday at 3 PM. The Danville Barbershop Chorus has their own holiday show. As Danville Barbershop Chorus Chapter President Eric Westfall explains, the Barbershop Chorus did a Christmas show at the Fischer a couple years ago, and then they were scheduled to do something else there. But of course, the pandemic got in the way. So now, Westfall says, for this return to the Fischer, the rehearsals under Director Marty Lindvahl have been more spirited than ever.
AUDIO: It’s been interesting because for a while we weren’t meeting a whole lot, and if we were we were just singing some old songs that we already knew. But having to learn a lot of this Christmas music has been different because we haven’t had to do that for a while.
Westfall says they’ll start at 3 Saturday, go straight through without an intermission, and, there’s a special surprise as well.
AUDIO: One of our quartets is going to sing a song with Marty. So it’s going to be the four guys in the quartet and her doing a song together. And whenever she gets a chance to shine and sing it’s a surprise, and it’s a gift for everybody because she’s probably got the best voice out of everybody.
