A press conference is scheduled for Friday morning in Chicago, in which a nationally renowned civil rights attorney, Ben Crump, and co-counsel B’Ivory LaMarr, will demand that the FBI have exclusive control over the investigation into the death of Jelani Day. Day’s body was discovered nearly 100 days ago on September 4.
Jelani Day, an Illinois State University graduate student and Danville native, went missing on August 24 and was found deceased in the Illinois River a month later. A coroner ruled the cause of death was drowning, but the circumstances that led to Day’s death are still unknown.
