The Vermilion County tournament wraps up for the 105th and the action was anything but cold at the David S. Palmer Arena. The Blue Devils came out with a purpose building a 10 point lead at halftime over the Westville Tigers and never looked back from there. Lead by a combo attack of their senior forwards of Mason Hackman and Ned Hill who both scored 12 in the game leading them to a 42-28 win. The Tigers fought to the end though scoring 6 points in the paint and trying to cut into the lead until the very end. Other games on the night saw a 5th place matchup of Oakwood, who came into the tournament as the number 1 seed, beat Hoopeston Area 59-29. Then in the 3rd place game Georgetown Ridge-Farm win a barn burner over Salt Fork in overtime 56-55 with a free throw with 1.7 seconds on the clock. The night also saw the announcement of the All-Tournament teams.
The girls All-Tournament Team was Lydia Gondzur from Westville, Sophia Rome form Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin, Tori Birge form Hoopeston Area, from Oakwood Ashlynn Pinnick and Addie Wright, from Armstrong-Potomac Lilly Jameson and Mattie Kennel, and finally from Salt Fork Brylie Smith, Madie Russell and Alexa Jameson.
The boys team was Ben Brown from Hoopeston Area, Josh Young from Oakwood, from Georgetown Ridge-Farm Cale Steinbaugh and Kaden Mingee, Garrett Taylor from Salt Fork, from Westville Kamden Maddox and Bryce Burnett, and all from Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin Ned Hill, Dawson Dodd and Brett Meidel.
