State Senator Scott Bennett says the Danville Sanitary District is going to receive more than $9.6 million dollars to upgrade infrastructure. The money is from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s Revolving Fund Program, which includes a Water Pollution Control Loan Program and Public Water Supply Loan Program. The programs provide low-interest loans to fund wastewater, storm water and drinking water projects.
The Danville Sanitary District plans to use the funds to replace and upgrade aging pumps and other equipment, as well as adding an energy efficient system that utilizes biogas. The project will help the District produce drainage that is within the limits set forth in their federal wastewater permit.
‘’Repairing and replacing our aging infrastructure is part of our ongoing efforts to protect public health and the environment,’’ said Senator Bennett. ‘’Through these projects, our community will make significant strides to protect the environment and our residents,’’ added Bennett.
The Danville Sanitary District project is funded through the Rebuild Illinois program. Recipients will receive an interest rate of 1.11 percent.
