After moving in a positive direction for a while, the area’s jobs picture changed direction and showed a negative change from March to April; but still comes in much better than one year ago.
In Vermilion County, the unemployment rate rose from 5.6% in March to 5.8% in April. Vermilion County’s rate stood at 6.4% in April of 2021.
The City of Danville’s jobless rate rose from 5.1% in March to 5.8% in April. Danville’s rate came in at 7.6% in April of last year.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
In Vermilion County, total non-farm employment showed no change compared to one year ago. Looking at more specific categories: Leisure and Hospitality was up by 100 jobs, Government was up by 100 jobs; and Manufacturing and Other Services were both down by 100 jobs.
