A special traveling exhibit describing the Holocaust opens Tuesday (October 10, 2023) at the Vermilion County Museum in Danville. Museum Director Sue Richter describes it…
{AUDIO: ‘’It’s a historical timeline exhibit of the Holocaust, which is unique and different from the one we had last year – which was basically based on the art and the artist and everything who were in the prison camps, and basically in one camp. And this one covers the historical aspect of the Holocaust and the idea of looking back to remember what happened, and why it happened, and the consequences of the Holocaust.”}

The exhibit consists of over forty large panels describing events that occurred during the Holocaust. Richter says area schools – especially middle and high schools – are invited to see the exhibit….
{AUDIO: ‘’We’ve sent information out to all those area teachers through the museum, and also through the Regional Office of Education, for them to be able to come for a special session to look at the exhibit and to receive all the teacher materials. And also to tell them to sign up to bring their students to come through the exhibit while its here.”}

Of course the general public can also see the Holocaust exhibit during its month-long stay at the Vermilion County Museum (October 10th – November 10th). The normal fee to visit the museum allows visitors to see other items on display in the museum as well.
The Vermilion County Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday each week.
