THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE
On October 17, 2023, Brandon Pluskis, formerly of Danville, Illinois, was sentenced by Judge Charles Hall in multiple cases to a total of 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Following his incarceration, Pluskis will serve 18 months of mandatory supervised release.
In Vermilion County case number 2020-CF-730, Brandon Pluskis plead guilty to Methamphetamine Possession, a Class 2 Felony. The Court heard evidence that in this case, Danville Police Department responded to a call of a man with a knife. The responding officer made contact with Pluskis. Upon a search of his person, Pluskis was found to be in possession of over 5 grams of methamphetamine. Pluskis was sentenced to 4 years Illinois Department of Corrections for this offense.
While on bond in 2020-CF-730, Brandon Pluskis was arrested and charged in 2021-CF-159, Possession of Firearm Without FOID Card, a Class 3 Felony. The Court heard evidence that on March 29, 2021, police responded to speak with the victim who stated Pluskis had made multiple threats to shoot the victim, banging on the door of the victim’s residence and then sending threats to the victim via text message. When the Danville Police Department located and interviewed Pluskis, he was searched and on his person police found a loaded .38 revolver. Pluskis was ineligible for a Firearm Owner’s Identification. In this case, Pluskis plead guilty and was sentenced to 4 years Illinois Department of Corrections.
In August of 2022, while on bond, Pluskis was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery With Firearm, a Class X Felony. In this case, the Court heard evidence that Pluskis was walking with an uninvolved third party when the victim rode by on his bicycle. Pluskis announced he was going to shoot the victim and then did so as the victim rode down the block. Pluskis fled the scene and the gun was not recovered. The victim was struck and fell off his bike, then walked for help. The police soon arrived and the victim was taken for medical treatment. Many witnesses identified Brandon Pluskis as the shooter and he was apprehended by the Danville Police Department shortly thereafter. Pluskis plead guilty to this offense and was sentenced to 12 years Illinois Department of Corrections, to be served at 85%.
The sentences, ordered by the Honorable Charles Hall, will be served consecutively for a total of 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Danville Police Department for their work in these cases. She added, “Repeat offenders will be held accountable by my office. There are inherent risks to public safety when violent offenders are not held in jail until their case is resolved.”
