A triple-header special moment occurred Wednesday (May 1st) morning in the Danville City Council Chambers as the Danville Police Department swore in three new probationary police officers: Roman Wagner, Trevor Snider, and Brody Yates.

(1st Picture) Brody Yates takes the oath from Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; (2nd Picture) Trevor Snider shakes hands with Mayor Williams after taking the oath; (3rd Picture) Roman Wagner smiles while acknowledging his family following his swearing in.
It was an even more special than usual ceremony of note for Chief Christopher Yates, as his son Brody is one of the three probationary officers about to undergo training. And it’s the swearing in of his Air Force Veteran son that allows the chief to reach a certain goal that he’s had.
AUDIO: And ironically he’s going to represent the 70th officer. He was gone for four years serving our country, so it was no surprise to me that he’d come back and serve our community.

Now; Yates, Snider, and Wagner will all hit the road for training at the police academy. But as Chief Yates pointed out after the ceremony, that’s only the first step to becoming a full time Danville Police Officer
AUDIO: They finish that 16 weeks, and again; they’re still not done. They have 17 more weeks of training, with field training, and that can be extended at any time. They have to make it through that. And then we got an addition six to seven months of their 18 month probation to make that final decision.
