THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT RELEASE
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle on 2030 East Road north of East Voorhees Street in rural Danville at approximately 4:40AM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The preliminary investigation shows that a male white, who has not been identified, was walking in the roadway wearing dark colored clothing. The roadway is in a rural area without street lights and there was fog present at the time of the call. The pedestrian was struck by multiple vehicles, the driver of one of the vehicles stopped and reported the incident to law enforcement. A second vehicle that struck the pedestrian was located at approximately 9:00AM.
The sheriff’s department is asking that anyone who may have information about the incident or the identity of the pedestrian to call the investigations division at 217-442-4080. Citizens can also submit anonymous tips through crime stoppers.
THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY CORONER’S OFFICE RELEASE
Danville, IL- The Vermilion County Coroner stated that a male/white pedestrian who was struck by multiple motor vehicles on County Road 2030 East north of Voorhees Street in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 is still under investigation. An Autopsy was preformed late yesterday and an identification has not yet been made.
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office and the Vermilion County Coroner’s office continue to investigate. Authorities ask that anyone with information as to the identity of the decedent or the circumstances surrounding the traffic crash to contact the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office at 217-442-4080 or Vermilion County Crimestoppers.
UDPATED RELEASE ON IDENTIFICATION
The Vermilion County Coroner has identified the male/white pedestrian who was struck by multiple motor vehicles on County Road 2030 East north of Voorhees Street in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 as 38 year-old, Duane A. Beachy, formerly of Humbolt, Illinois.
