The recent announcement of Red Lobster’s closing in Danville, one of many nationwide due to the restaurant’s reported consideration of Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, got the immediate attention of Director Chuck Jones and his team at Vermilion County Works. They’ve been providing assistance to Quaker Oats employees affected by their recent Danville closing. Jones says, please call or stop in; they are here for you.

Danville Red Lobster workers found out Monday morning (May 13th) that they were laid off and the restaurant was closing.
Jones says one way Vermilion County Works can connect those needing employment to the right people is in the area of specific occupational training for areas someone is interested in. He cited some examples of training that residents, including some former Quaker Oats workers, have recently been able to sign up for.
AUDIO: A lot of people have expressed interest in getting their CDL Class A license. We’ve had a lot of individuals come in to look at training in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. And also some people who have been interested in getting into the health care field.
