No injuries were reported Saturday as flames heavily damaged a home in South Danville. Firefighters responded to the blaze at the Aaron Shelto residence at 912 South Forrest Street at 11:45 a.m. and were on the scene for over four hours. There were no injuries, although Shelto was at home when the fire erupted.
Much of the damage was in a car port area on the south end of Shelto’s home, but there was also extensive damage inside the home. And a neighbor’s house, at 914 Forrest Street, also suffered some exterior damage to some siding.
It has been a busy week for Danville Firefighters and some other departments in Vermilion County. On Thursday a fire at 300 Park Street in Danville claimed the life of 75-year-old David Singleton who lived there. And another fire on Thursday heavily damaged the Louis Dickison home in Alvin. Dickison, his wife and grown son were able to escape the home.
