Danville Area Toys for Tots Coordinator Megan Montgomery said they served about 1,200 children last year. This year they expect to serve around 3,000. The program serves families in Vermilion County, in addition to Fountain and Warren counties in Indiana.

Local coordinator Megan Montgomery says, with the increased registration being done online, there are more families signed up this year.

Volunteers will be assembling in the old high school gym this Saturday, wrapping the donated toys, from 11 different barrels around town, lined up in the cafeteria. The Santas will hit the road at 3 PM, and probably be on the job until about 7.

The honorary wreaths were announced one by one, followed by volunteers laying wreaths at gravesites afterwards.

"The reason for the event is simple" states event organizer, Peter Blackmon. "It's Christmas and we want to share the love."

The concert will include holiday favorites, as well as a few summer favorites; and will close with a musical "tour de force" with a performance of the Fourth Movement of Camille Saint-Saens C Minor "Organ" Symphony.

Specially designated wreaths for the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, and POW/MIA, PTSD, Agent orange, and the Scott Bennett memorial wreath for disabled veterans. This ceremony will be coordinated simultaneously at over 4,200+ participating locations all across the Country.

The event was started in 1995 by Westville administrator Denny Watson as a way for the students and schools to give back to the community. School board members, local legislators, and administrators help serve food while students provide table service, music, games, and gift giveaways.
