Witsman told CIMG he actually thought about it prior to the last election, because he felt things were declining. And this time around, Witsman says he's in; and will be out reminding residents what he believes he's all about.

However, union spokesperson Don Woods says the proposed two-tiered system, where new employees would not have the same protections salary wise when it comes to up and down or lateral movements, remains a major point.

"We must be proactive in ensuring families who are eligible for the program have all the necessary information to take advantage of its benefits," said Faraci. "This law is a critical step, increasing transparency and support for families across the state."

"It is crucial our communities know how to properly interact with people with developmental disabilities when they go missing so we can get them back home safely, and this law will make certain that happens."
