Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation into a serious truck-pedestrian accident along Interstate 74 – west of Danville, on Tuesday. A 48-year-old Danville woman was struck by a semi tractor trailer along the westbound lanes of the interstate near the Martin Luther King exits.
Illinois State Trooper Tracy Lillard says the mishap occurred at 10:15 Tuesday morning. She adds the driver of the truck – a 55-year-old Abingdon, Illinois man – was not hurt.
The name of the woman who was hit has not been released (as of Tuesday night). She was taken to an Urbana hospital with what was believed to be serious injuries.
The accident resulted with westbound traffic being detoured around the site for about three hours.
