Wednesday morning around 1000 am Danville Police Officers responded to the Casey’s Gas Station in the 800 block of E. Voorhees St. for a report of a vehicular hijacking. Upon arrival Officers gathered initial information that a victim had reported her 2015 Jeep Cherokee was taken at gunpoint by an African-American male subject and that there was another dark colored SUV involved.
Officers checked the area and located both vehicles in the Holiday Hills area where a pursuit began with both vehicles when they fled the scene together. Officers pursued the vehicles north out of Danville and continued to pursue the vehicles until eventually the dark colored SUV pulled over outside of Rossville, IL. The 16 year old male driver of that vehicle was taken into custody and that vehicle which was a 2011 BMW SUV was found to be stolen from Chicago. Officers continued to pursue the stolen Jeep Cherokee as it continued on county roads before crashing in the area of 1300 E. 4000 N. Rd near Hoopeston, IL. The 17 year old male driver of the stolen Jeep Cherokee was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered at that scene. Both subjects who were taken into custody listed Chicago addresses. Their names and photos are being withheld due to them being juveniles.
The investigation into this incident continues and no more information is being released at this time.
