An investigation continues into the cause of a Saturday house fire that sent a Danville man to the hospital. Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front and south side of the two-story home at 1204 Dakota Street when they arrived. The alarm sounded at 11:42 a.m. and firefighters were on the scene nearly four hours.
The homeowner was transported to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center with possible smoke inhalation, but was expected to be alright.
Thirteen Danville Firefighters responded to the original alarm, and two off-duty crews were called in to assist. Although the cause of the fire remained under investigation, fire officials say it appears to have originated on the first floor.
