A new local basketball team, the Illinois Coal Miners, are getting ready to begin their season as many other teams wrap-up their season. The Coal Miners are members of the Central Basketball Association and will play an exhibition game at Westville High School on Saturday, March 18th at 5:00 p.m. The Miners will be playing the Lithuanian All Stars from Lemont, Illinois.
Tickets for the game are $5 per person, and proceeds will be shared with the Westville Depot and Historical Museum, Westville Library and the Lithuanian Cemetery.
The Coal Miners will play their home opener on Sunday, March 26th at 3:00 p.m. against the Mississippi Eagles at Schlarman Academy, at 2112 North Vermilion in Danville. General admission tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students (with ID), and children 6 and under are admitted to the Coal Miner games free of charge.
During the Coal Miners home-opener on March 26th the game will honor those who have served in the U.S. military. All Veterans in attendance will be recognized. There will also be a color guard and the LaSalette Boys will sing the national anthem.
