Danville District 118 School Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddis says she is looking forward to staying in her current position. And Dr. Geddis says she hopes when the Danville School Board acts Wednesday evening on extending her contract it will put to rest any rumors that she is leaving.
The School Board is scheduled to act on extending the Superintendent’s contract by 3 years. The base salary of $190-thousand dollars was set last November when a package of administrative salaries was approved by the board.
Dr. Geddis is looking forward to working with some Danville High School students in a new marketing campaign – #YesDanville. ‘’Danville offers the perfect opportunity. It balances family life, your work life – and you can get to anywhere in two hours. You can have access to the world in two hours,’’ says Geddis.
Dr. Geddis says it is important to get the word out about Danville. ‘’Particularly as we look to recruit teachers to Danville. We have to show them why Danville should be the choice. It is the perfect place to balance family and work – because here in Danville we celebrate family.’’
The School Board meets Wednesday evening at the Jackson School Building at 516 North Jackson. Board members will meet in a closed session starting at 5:30 p.m., with the open meeting beginning at 6:30.
