Indiana State Police say they recovered some evidence from the armed robbery of a Paris, Illinois pharmacy after stopping a vehicle that sped through a construction zone Monday. State Police Sergeant Joe Watts says three men working in the construction zone along Interstate 70 were forced to move quickly to avoid being struck by the suspect’s auto.
The suspect, 18-year-old Shawn Michael Caballero of Indianapolis, was taken to the Vigo County Jail where he is being held on preliminary charges of Dealing in a Controlled Substance, four counts of Criminal Recklessness with a Vehicle, Resisting Law Enforcement and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
Sergeant Watts says the suspect’s vehicle reached speeds of 110 miles per hour during a chase that also involved Clay County, Indiana Sheriff’s Deputies. At one point during the chase the suspect’s vehicle struck a pickup truck being operated by a Moberly, Missouri man…forcing it off the roadway. The suspect was quickly taken into custody following the collision.
