Danville School District 118 has announced recipients of the 2017 David L. Fields Outstanding Teacher Awards.
The Danville Public School Foundation will celebrate excellence in teaching and spotlight student musical talents during ‘An Evening of Singing and Dancing’. The event, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28th, at the Dick Van Dyke Auditorium at Danville High School, will honor:
- Rachel Webber, Cross-Categorical Teacher at Meade Park Elementary School;
- Kristen Hall, Pre-K teacher at Southwest Elementary School;
- Barbara York, 7th grade English teacher at North Ridge Middle School;
- And Jennifer White, Special Education Teacher at Danville High School.
All four will be presented the David L. Fields Outstanding Teacher Award. Teachers are selected for the award based on student success, collaboration, continuous learning and leadership.
The Danville High School Show Choirs, along with the North Ridge Middle School Show Choir and choir from South View Upper Elementary School, will perform. The Danville District 118 show choirs have been perennial winners in competitions across the Midwest for many years.
Mayor Scott Eisenhauer will serve as master of ceremonies for the April 28th event. Classic Homes Realty is the Title Sponsor, along with business partners which include The Commercial News, McDonald’s of Vermilion County, Neuhoff Broadcasting, and Kohls.
Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased at all Danville McDonald’s locations or the studios of WDNL, K-Rock and WDAN Radio at 1501 North Washington Street in Danville. They may also be purchased at the door the night of the event.
Bob Richard is Executive Director of the Danville Public School Foundation. He says proceeds from the event help support the Foundation’s mission to provide enhanced educational opportunities for the 6,000 students attending Danville Public Schools.
