Danville Firefighters were busy Thursday as they handled two house fires. The first at 122 Oregon Street was reported at 9:00 a.m. Firefighters found dense smoke when they arrived…then discovered a fire in the basement of the two-story structure. Although there was significant damage to the lower level of the home there were no injuries. Preliminary damage estimates were placed at between $15,000 and $20,000.
The other fire was reported at 1:30 p.m. in a home at 1610 Cleveland Street. Firefighters had to cut their way into the home’s attic to douse the blaze that was burning near a wood burning stove. There were no injuries. Preliminary damage estimates were placed between $5,000 and $10,000.
