An investigation continues into the cause of a Sunday fire which left heavy damage to a Danville residence. Firefighters responded to the blaze at 201 Dawn Avenue shortly before 3:00 p.m. and found a significant amount of fire in the structure when they arrived.
Battalion Chief Tom Pruitt says no one was home at the time, however firefighters rescued a dog. It was taken from the scene by a local veterinarian who transported the dog to the University of Illinois for treatment.
Pruitt says firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames, but the fire still left a considerable amount of damage. There were no injuries to firefighters.
