The Vermilion County Board this week is honoring some area farmers who came to the aid of farmers in the plains states. And the Board, during its meeting Tuesday evening, will also be honoring the Danville Dashers Hockey Team
Rohrscheib Farms is being recognized for organizing a caravan of farmers and business people who hauled hay to farmers affected by wildfires in the plains states. Vern Rohrscheib and his farm employees in the Fairmount area were talking about the wildfire damage in March when they decided to do something about it. More than a million acres were affected by the wildfires in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.
Also during Tuesday evening’s meeting the County Board will honor the Danville Dashers Hockey Team for its outstanding season. The team won the league’s top prize – the Commissioners Cup.
The County Board meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Vermilion County Courthouse Annex.
