Illinois State Police say a blown tire may have caused an accident which caused a semi tractor-trailer to flip onto its side west of Tilton early Thursday. The crash sent food products spilling out onto the interstate, but the driver was not hurt. Troopers say the driver was wearing a seat belt. The truck crashed shortly after 7:30 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of the interstate, about two miles west of the G Street exit at Tilton. Clean-up crews worked for hours to unload the trailer and remove the truck and trailer from the scene.
The crash slowed eastbound traffic along the interstate for hours, but traffic is again moving normally through that area.
