A crash last evening involving an Edgar County Sheriff’s Deputy and a 16-year-old girl has left both with serious injuries. Illinois State Police investigated and say the crash occurred along route 133 at Edgar County 1200 East Road shortly before 6:00 p.m.
According to results of the preliminary investigation troopers say the 16-year-old girl failed to stop or yield at the intersection and pulled into the path of 30-year-old Edgar County Sheriff’s Deputy Clayton Johnson of Paris. The 16-year-old who was involved is from Paris, but her name was not released.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported by Air Ambulance to a hospital for treatment. The teenager has been cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection.
