Vermilion County Sheriff’s Police are probing a Sunday morning shooting that sent one man to the hospital. Sheriff’s Captain Michael Hartshorn says multiple shots were fired after an apparent altercation broke out on the parking lot of the Scoreboards Sports Bar and Grill.
When deputies arrived they discovered that one man had been shot. Hartshorn says he was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The shooting outside the bar in the 2500 block of Georgetown Road occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sheriff’s Police and Investigators, and a Crime Scene Investigator from Illinois State Police were still on the scene gathering evidence more than six hours later. Captain Hartshorn says some evidence was recovered from the highway in front of the sports bar. That area of Illinois Route 1 was closed for several hours as officers worked the crime scene. It has since re-opened. [In the photo above a Crime Scene Investigator from Illinois State Police studies evidence on the parking lot in front of the bar early Sunday.]
The name of the man who was shot was not immediately released. Hartshorn says no one has been arrested in the shooting, but he adds several people were still being interviewed.
