Peoria based OSF Healthcare has signed a letter of intent to take ownership of Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville and Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. The deal is expected to close during the first quarter of 2018.
‘’This transfer in ownership ensures high-quality Catholic hospital services will continue in these communities we have been called to serve,’’ said Sister Judith Ann Duvall, chairperson of the OSF Healthcare Board.
‘’For a long time, we have respected OSF Healthcare’s integrity and commitment to their Catholic health care mission, one that closely aligns with Presence Health’s,’’ says Mike Englehart, President and CEO of Presence Health. ‘’We also know OSF Healthcare will transition the associates and physicians in a fair manner and maintain continuity in providing high quality patient care,’’ added Englehart.
‘’OSF Healthcare is looking forward to these two hospitals becoming part of the OSF Ministry,’’ says Kevin Schoeplein, CEO of OSF Healthcare. ‘’The Urbana and Danville communities are vibrant areas and will help extend the OSF Healthcare Ministry to patients throughout Illinois.’’ And Schoeplein added OSF will work closely with the Presence Health team to ensure a smooth transition for the Associates now employed at the Danville and Urbana hospitals. ‘’We look forward to connecting with them and working together for the benefit of our patients,’’ he added. In addition, the OSF HealthCare team plans to reach out to other healthcare providers in the area, as well as community members, local organizations, and business and municipal leaders to cultivate a collaborative relationship for the health of all in those communities.
