OSF HealthCare says a name change can be expected when it takes over Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville and Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. ‘’OSF HealthCare hospitals and related facilities are named after Catholic saints and it is likely that renaming will take place as the hospitals become part of OSF HealthCare,’’ says Erin Mitchell, Regional Director of Marketing and Communications for Presence Health.
It was announced Tuesday that Peoria based OSF has signed a letter of intent to take over the two hospitals. The deal is expected to be finalized during the first quarter of 2018.
Mitchell says the deal must first receive Illinois regulatory approvals. And since both are Catholic health care facilities, the transition must also be approved by the Catholic Church in Rome.
OSF says it does not anticipate reducing services or positions. Current employees of the two hospitals will not have to reapply or interview for their positions, but will be required to fill out some relevant HR paperwork for documenting and reporting purposes.
The purchase price is not being disclosed.
