A three-man team of Ameren Illinois linemen from the Danville Operating Center brought home some hardware from the Detroit Edison Regional Lineman’s Rodeo, held earlier this month in Michigan. The Danville team was among six Ameren Illinois linemen who participated in the rodeo as a warm up for the 34th Annual International Lineman’s Rodeo, Oct. 14 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. The Lineman’s Rodeo attracts the best linemen from around the world to compete in events based on traditional lineman tasks and skills.
The first Lineman’s Rodeo was held in September 1984, with 12 participating teams from Kansas and Missouri. The rodeo has grown to more than 200 teams and 250 apprentices.
