Monday’s Labor Day Parades unofficially kicked-off the campaign season for the March 20th, 2018 election. And candidates who are planning to run for office are being reminded that election packets are available starting today, September 5th, in the office of Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins. Danville’s new Election Commission Director Sandy Delhaye says her office will also have petition packets available for those interested in running.
Local offices for which candidates will be nominated in the March Primary Election include County Treasurer, County Clerk, County Sheriff, Supervisor of Assessments, Regional Superintendent of Schools, Board of Review members, and County Board members. Precinct Committeepersons will be elected during the March Primary Election.
Federal, state and judicial offices will also be on the ballot. Information and necessary forms for those offices may be found on the State Board of Elections’ website at www.elections.il.gov. The candidate who receives the highest vote total in each political party will advance to face off in the November 6th, 2018 General Election.
Individuals wanting more information can contact either the Vermilion County Clerk’s Office or the Danville Board of Election Commission Office. Both of the offices are located in the Vermilion County Courthouse Annex, directly across the street from the Rita B. Garman Vermilion County Courthouse.
