The Danville Area United Way is launching this year’s campaign. Sherry Askren, United Way Executive Director, says there are sixteen local United Way agencies that will split about $360-thousand dollars. Last year’s campaign failed to make its goal, but the United Way still provided about $400-thousand dollars in support according to Askren.
Some of the not-for-profit agencies that benefit from the United Way campaign include the Salvation Army, Big Brothers – Big Sisters, CRIS Healthy Aging Center, Prairielands Council of Boy Scouts, the Danville Family YMCA and others.
Askren says the agencies have done an outstanding job over the past two years keeping services going during the state’s budget crisis.
