The Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) has submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) health care rate filings recently received from Illinois insurers for the 2018 on-exchange marketplace, and the news means higher rates for Vermilion County residents.
Health Alliance Medical Plans and Health Care Service Corporation, also referred to as Blue Cross Blue Shield in the report, are the two providers for Vermllion County for individuals, Health Alliance is the only provider for small group insurance for 2018 in the exchange.
Individual rates will be going up across the board for Vermilion County residents.
While there will be different options for coverage available, the average lowest bronze rate for a 21-year old non-smoker will increase by 28%. The lowest silver rate will increase by 37%, and the second-lowest silver by 42%. The lowest gold rate would increase by 19%, The actual cost difference between the lowest bronze and lowest gold runs from $312.53 up to $479.49.
