Danville Police are investigating an early (Saturday) morning shooting incident which left multiple people wounded. Danville Police Commander Joshua Webb says officers were called shortly after 3:00 a.m. to the area of Seminary and Jackson Streets on a report of shots fired. Police found evidence that a shooting had occurred there.
Commander Webb says it was short while later that police were notified that several victims had been transported in private vehicles to the hospital. Police determined that all total five people had been shot.
Three of the people shot are females and two are males. The victims range in age from 17 to 37.
One of the male victims and one of the female victims are from Danville and the other three who were shot were visiting from Champaign. None of the wounds appear to be life-threatening according to Commander Webb.
Based on witness statements police learned that there was a party taking place in the area of Seminary and Jackson Streets when the shooting erupted.
The investigation is continuing and no other information is being released by authorities at this time.
