The most recent maps from the US Department of Agriculture show that the Southern third of Vermilion County in Illinois is in Moderate Drought condition. The middle third is rated as abnormally dry, while soil in the Northernmost part of the county has normal moisture.
Almost all of Edgar County is rated in Moderate Drought, as is all of Parke County in Indiana.
Vermillion County Indiana is nearly completely rated at Moderate Drought, except for the very Northern tip, rated abnormally dry.
The USDA report concludes that effects of the low moisture will be short term, six months or less, rather than a long term problem.
