The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to consider whether requiring workers to pay union dues is constitutional. Governor Bruce Rauner says the court is taking an important first step toward ending what he calls the unconstitutional practice.
‘’It’s a fundamental violation of their First Amendment Right to free speech and association,’’ says the Governor. He adds he is hopeful the court will see it that way to the end.
The Supreme Court agreed to consider the case of Janus versus AFSCME (the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees).
