Thyssenkrupp has announced it has created a new unit for its global forging activities. The company is combining its machining and forging operations in Danville, and its Veedersburg, Indiana location to be part of the new worldwide forging unit. Thyssenkrupp says the move was made to help cater to new industries and cut reliance on combustion engine parts.
The move is not expected to adversely affect operations at the local Thyssenkrupp locations. And in fact the company expects the move will provide additional opportunities for the business in Danville and Veedersburg.
The new forged technologies unit was formed effective October 1st. It has about 7,000 employees worldwide and sales of more than $1.2 billion dollars. The German engineering and steel group has 18 production sites and distributes products in over 70 countries.
‘’Central management of our worldwide production network will enable us to use our facilities more efficiently and align them more closely to customer requirements,’’ said Karsten Kroos who heads Thyssenkrupp’s components business.
