Indiana State Police say a 30-year-old Milwaukee man faces multiple charges after he allegedly kidnapped a two-year-old girl and stole a vehicle in Wisconsin. Police apprehended the man in Tippecanoe County, Indiana this morning following a nearly hour-long pursuit.
Kenneth Brown fled from police in Decatur, Illinois after he was stopped for a traffic violation early today (Wednesday), according to authorities. Police lost sight of him but around 3:00 a.m. the suspect allegedly stopped in Watseka and told someone he had kidnapped the girl and stolen the car.
After fleeing from the Watseka area, authorities say Brown was later pursued by Indiana State Police, Kentland, Indiana Police and officers from the Newton and Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Departments.
After finally getting Brown stopped, Indiana State Police say he allegedly held a knife to the throat of the two-year-old before turning the child over to officers. Brown then attempted to do bodily harm to himself, but was immediately subdued by officers. Brown, however, had suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Lafayette hospital and was later transferred to one in Indianapolis. The two-year-old child suffered only a few cuts and bruises and was otherwise reported in good condition.
