The Vermilion County Coroner has released the name of a man who was fatally shot on Danville’s southeast side early Sunday. Coroner Jane McFadden says the victim is 35-year-old Lucas W. Stark of Danville.
Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says a suspect is in custody in what police say is the latest homicide in the city. According to Thomason police were called to a residence in the 700 block of Florida Street at about 3:00 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 22, 2017) on a report that someone had been shot.
‘’Officers arriving at the scene found a 35-year-old Danville man with a gunshot wound to the upper body,’’ said Thomason. ‘’A paramedic unit was called to the scene and the victim was transported to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center where he was pronounced dead around 4:00 a.m.’’
Thomason adds officers investigating the incident learned that an argument had taken place between the victim and 26-year-old Marcus Carter, who is also from Danville.
Carter (shown here) was arrested and is being held on murder charges in the case, according to Director Thomason. He added a 27-year-old female was also arrested on a charge of obstructing justice in the incident.
The name of the victim again is Lucas W. Stark, who was 35 from Danville.
