Presence Pro Ambulance Service is looking to expand its operations in Danville. And the company may be moving into the former number 4 fire station building on East Main Street.
The Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a petition on Thursday requesting that the property at 1711 East Main Street be rezoned to allow for the operation of an ambulance service there.
Danville Urban Services Manager Christopher Milliken says even though an ambulance service would be a similar use as a fire station – the zoning change would be necessary. He says that is because fire stations are allowed in residential neighborhoods, but an ambulance business would require the property to be rezoned.
Erin Mitchell, a spokeswoman for Presence Health, says Presence is looking to grow the Pro Ambulance Service in Danville. But she added she has no other details to share at this time. ‘’Our focus is on compassionate care,’’ added Mitchell.
The building along East Main Street was left vacant earlier this year when the Danville City Council voted to trim the number of fire stations in the city to three.
The Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the petition when it meets at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, November 2nd, at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building at 17 West Main Street.
