The East Central Illinois Community Action Agency is beginning phase two of its energy assistance program on Wednesday (November 1st, 2017). The Agency will be accepting applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (known as LIHEAP). This round is for eligible households with children under the age of six, and those households whose energy provider has already disconnected their service.
Appointments will be accepted at the East Central Illinois Community Action Agency Office at 56 North Vermilion Street in Danville. Payments are made directly to the power companies.
Those who are registering must take certain items with them including:
- Current power/gas or propane bill;
- Verification of disability income or documented disability, if applicable;
- Verification of the applicable child or children’s age;
- Social Security cards for everyone in the residence;
- Rent receipt or lease. If Section 8, a verification letter is required.
- If you do not have any income, you must provide written verification of how you meet your household needs and verification of residency.
- A signed copy of the current lease or rental agreement (if heat and electric service are not in your own name, or if utilities are included in rent;
- Proof of gross income for all household members for the 30 day period beginning with the date of application;
- Proof that the household received Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)/ Aid to the Aged Blind, or Disabled, or Illinois Link Card (food stamps) if applicable.
