A man who revolutionized procedures for operating on animals, and another man who became a national leader in broadcasting, have been selected for induction to the Danville High School Wall of Fame.
Dr. Raymond Prata of the Danville High School Class of 1961, and Mike Hulvey, a graduate with the DHS Class of 1983, have been selected for the honor.
Dr. Prata received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Veterinarian Medicine from the University of Illinois. He went on to become a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr. Prata shadowed spinal surgeons who were working on humans, and then adapted those techniques to be performed on dogs and cats. He later did the same thing for knee surgeries for dogs and cats.
Now retired, Dr. Prata lives in Harrington Park, New Jersey.
Mike Hulvey started his broadcasting career when he was 14 with a part time position at WDAN-WDNL Radio. Now he is the Chief Operating Officer at Neuhoff Communications, Inc. which owns and operates 22 radio stations in Illinois and Indiana along with 18 revenue generating websites.
Hulvey…whose birthday is March 4th…has always had a march forth attitude. And whenever he gets the chance, Hulvey likes to tell people about the positive aspects of life in Danville. And he even launched a radio campaign with a ‘March Forth’ theme.
In addition to serving as Chief Operating Officer at Neuhoff Communications, Hulvey also serves nationally on the Radio Advertising Board and is president of the International Broadcasters Idea Bank.
