Some eighth grade students at North Ridge Middle School in Danville got a special lesson Monday on the Civil War. Eugene Bencomo of Oakwood and Gary Simpkins of Heyworth, Illinois – two well-known Civil War re-enactors – addressed the class. And as Bencomo explained, they took some of their relics with them…

But it has been three years since Civil War Days and its re-enactments were held near Danville. And Bencomo wonders whether that event will ever return…
Bencomo (shown here) estimated it would take about $10-thousand dollars to get that event going again.
