Danville Police are seeking help from the public as they probe two Sunday morning shootings. Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says the first was reported at 2:30 a.m. (November 26th, 2017) on a parking lot at the Circle K Gas Station at Bowman and Voorhees Streets. According to preliminary information, Thomason says there apparently was a verbal altercation involving several people. Police were told a man got out of a vehicle and started shooting.
According to Thomason a 30-year-old man was shot and taken to an Urbana hospital where he was reported in good condition. Police were told another victim, 41-year-old Steven Hicks of Danville, fired back. Director Thomason says Hicks was also shot, but was released following treatment. Police have charged Hicks with aggravated discharge of a firearm. Thomason adds police were still seeking another man in connection with that incident.
It was only minutes later — at 2:39 a.m. — that Danville Police were informed about a shooting that had occurred in the 100 block of Harvey Street. Director Thomason says several people were in a home there when they heard shots outside. One of the shots entered the home at 118 Harvey Street and struck a 23-year-old female. She was transported to a hospital where she was listed in stable condition. [In the photo a police investigator probes the scene on Harvey Street Sunday. No arrests have been made in that incident and Director Thomason says police are seeking information that might help solve that case. Anyone who has information that might help is asked to call Danville Police or call Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS.
