A Danville teenager has launched an effort to help other teens whose lives have been shattered by family members who are drug addicts. Thirteen-year-old Ciera Beith knows the problem first hand, and now wants to spotlight the talents of children – but not just children of addiction…
Beith also had a message on WDAN Radio’s Newsmakers program for children who are asking why drug or alcohol problems are affecting their family…
And Beith wants to have a talent show in February focusing on the talents of ‘children of addiction’ and others. And she had a special message on the show for other children who have had one or more parents addicted to alcohol or drugs…
Beith, who is a 8th grade student at North Ridge Middle School, was on the program along with her grandmother, Lisa Beith, and Dee Ann Ryan. Ryan is spearheading the Soul Garden Recovery Project. She says the ultimate goal is to open a new center to support the families of addicts in recovery.
