Some local high school basketball games have been cancelled in the aftermath of last Friday’s shooting following a Danville – Champaign Central game. Three young females were shot near Champaign Central High School and police are still trying to find the person or persons responsible.
Danville High Principal Kimberly Norton says that in addition to the DHS girls basketball game at Champaign Centennial High School which was cancelled tonight (Tuesday, December 12th) – Friday night’s DHS boys basketball game against Urbana and Saturday’s girls game between Danville High School and Urbana have also been cancelled.
‘’Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the violence that occurred last weekend,’’ said a statement released by Principal Norton. ‘’The safety of our students, staff and fans is our top priority,’’ added the statement. It said Danville High School has, out of an abundance of caution, jointly decided with Champaign and Urbana to cancel the games.
