The year 2017 ended on a tragic note in Danville. Fire officials say a Saturday night fire has claimed a life.
Firefighters were called to a two-unit apartment building at 26 South Alexander Street shortly after 8:00 p.m. When they arrived, Assistant Fire Chief Todd Spicer says heavy flames were coming from the front of the building…
Firefighters not only had to battle the fire but also ice and bitter cold as they attacked the flames…
The Vermilion County Coroner has not released the name of the victim yet (as of Tuesday morning), but fire officials say the victim is a male. There were no injuries to any fire personnel. The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office is probing the death along with Danville Fire personnel and the County Coroner. Firefighters were on the scene until 12:30 a.m. Sunday (December 31st, 2017).
