Investigations are underway into what caused two separate fires early today (Tuesday) in Georgetown. The first blaze destroyed a mobile home at 111 East 15th Street. Georgetown Fire Chief Jeff Bridgewater says the alarm sounded shortly before 2:30 a.m. —
The Georgetown Chief says several other departments helped at the scene…
Ridge Farm volunteer firefighters also helped. As firefighters were wrapping up operations at that blaze they received a report of a second fire. It was for a house fire at 405 Hill Street in Georgetown. Westville Fire Chief Gary Wright, who is an I & I Fire Investigator, says firefighters found heavy smoke rolling from the house on Hill Street and flames had already broken through the roof. The single story home suffered heavy damage even though Georgetown, Westville and Tilton firefighters arrived on the scene quickly from where the first fire occurred.
There were no injuries in either fire. The mobile home that burned was vacant, and Wright says it’s possible that someone was inside it trying to stay warm. He says there was a small fire at that same location last week.
