The water is back on for some Aqua Illinois Water Company customers who were impacted by a large water main break in Tilton Thursday morning. But some customers were still without water early Thursday afternoon – including Southwest Elementary School.
Aqua’s Vermilion Area Manager, Bob Ervin, told VermilionCountyFirst.com News water would likely be restored for the school late Thursday. But he added a precautionary boil advisory for the school would likely not be lifted until Friday afternoon (January 12th).
The Gardenview Nursing Home and Middlefork School had their water restored as crews continued their work on the water line break along the Catlin-Tilton Road. But Ervin says both the nursing home and Middlefork School remain under a precautionary boil advisory. The advisory was expected to be dropped by sometime Friday afternoon – once test results on some water samples are back.
Ervin says in addition to the two schools and the nursing home Thursday morning’s large water line break also impacted about fifty other customers in the Tilton area. Ervin says there have been a large number of main breaks lately….including two others that occurred in Tilton on Wednesday. Plus Ervin says Aqua Illinois has also received about 120 calls lately from customers who were dealing with frozen water lines in their homes.
