Two Danville High School students have been awarded scholarships covering 24 credit hours at Danville Area Community College. Payton Blodgett and Carter Hambley won those scholarships during the Academic Challenge Tuesday at DACC. They were the highest ranking seniors competing in the event.
Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin Cooperative High School took first place in the team competition for Middle Size Schools. Oakwood High School was second and Hoopeston Area High School third.
In the Small Schools Division, Armstrong Township High School finished first. Salt Fork High School was second, and Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School finished third.
A number of individual awards were also presented in areas that included such areas as Math, English and Chemistry. Students were tested in seven academic areas.
High schools participating included Armstrong Township, Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin, Chrisman, Danville, Georgetown-Ridge Farm, Hoopeston Area, Milford, Oakwood, Salt Fork and Westville.
Winners advance to a regional competition at Eastern Illinois University.
